First place the rabbit in a metal pot. This will ensure you that it cannot chew through it. Next pour some water in the pot. This will be for the next few steps. Place the pot on the stove and turn on high.. add carrots, celery, spices and any other vegetables you wish. Serve with mashed potatoes.
I'm just kidding.. lol. Go to your local hardware store and buy about 1 or 2 square yards of either rabbit fencing or chicken wire. You'll also need a small spool of piano wire.
I would take a 9"x13" metal cake pan and drill some holes on all 4 sides so you can thread the piano wire through it. Measure the height that you want the cage to be and also the perimeter of the pan. Use wire cutters to cut out the wire and fold where the corners will be. Use the piano wire to secure it to the cake pan.
Cut the lid out of the remaining fencing and secure one side to the top of the newly formed cage with the piano wire. On the opposite side you can use a couple of clothes pins to keep the lid closed or more piano wire.

Use caution when cutting any kind of wire. Make sure you wear long sleeves and leather gloves so you don't get cuts and scrapes. Also eye wear is a good thing to have.

Are you talking indoor or outdoor cage here?

For an indoor cage, try here:

There's a new type of do-it-yourself rabbit cages sweeping the rabbit owning world. They're referred to as: NIC (Neat Idea Cube) Cages. They're made of the wire storage cubes you can buy at Walmart and Target for about $13. They snap together to form a sturdy and attractive looking cage. You can build on it as you go, making multiple levels. The best thing is, it's customizeable, as far as size goes. Making an NIC cage is much cheaper than buying a cage from the store. The downfall? Your rabbit should be litterbox trained, or you'll need to make a flooring of some sort. Also, NIC cages are for INDOOR use only.

If you intend to make a cage for OUTDOOR use, try this site:

Hope that helps

Cut up some 2x4 beams of wood and make a box or rectangle. Then put a treated plywood floor in and a treated plywood ceiling with a latch and hinge system. By chicken wire to put around the outside and you have a cheap cage.

My bunny had one made out of a shopping cart that my dad put a piece of plexi on top of... but that was the cage for traveling. He built a bigger, permant one in the back yard.
