It's a pet peeve of mine, too. If you are sitting in front of a keyboard and can type and use your brain at the same time, why not spell out the words? Why not use complete sentences and correct grammar?

The ONLY time I use those abbreviations is when I'm trying to fit too much into a single text message on my cell phone. That is also the only circumstance under which I don't mind reading them.

Yeah it's true, i agree what's in your mind. Those three letter words are too few to type but some people are too lazy to do it. I also don't know why they're doing so.

Y U tripping. it is just short hand so you can get done quicker. I was surprised to learn how many people can't type and they hunt and find so if it is casual forum like this there is no problem. Get the stick out your ***
On another note this hole thing started with texting and IM people trying to go really fast and convey their info in a small space/ short period of time

I don't know why people do it. I guess it's "Internet text typing" ;however, when it comes down to an e-mail or being serious. Typing "u r y" is showing me that your being unprofessional and showing a lack of interest in the subject matter. That's just my opinion

I'm a good speller (compared to the average user here) but I just never learned how to type.

It just saves a lot of fingerwork typing. What's the big deal, anyway?
