Well, it depends upon what kind of things you were talking about when the initials CW were mentioned.
In mechanics, or mechanical instructions, CW might mean "Clock-wise". For example: Twist handle sharply CW, for 1/2 revoloution.
In Shortwave, Amateur Radio, or Commercial Broadcasting CW refers to a type of signaling
which uses a "continuous wave" interrupted
in patterns which represent letters, numbers, and
punctuation. Morse code is one arrangement of
those kinds of patterns of on/off signaling. A code
key or other similar device is used to make and break
the electrical contact to the transmitter and send the
patterns like that famous "SOS" signal of 3 shorts,
3 longs, and 3 shorts.

Continuous wave, or in other words, the application of Morse code through the sending and receiving of dots and dashes (dits and dahs).
Morse code was once an integral part of our Armed Forces communicators, but now it is mainly used by ham operators the world over. Its signal is the strongest known on earth and can penetrate space.
End note: We have a rater on this site with a warped sense of logic. Could it be that I and several others explained fully what Continous Wave means?
