I agree that all human activities cannot be fully understood. I think man kill others for different reasons. For some it is an accident, for some it is a pleasure, for some it is a weakness, for some it is a security measure. When a person is extremely out of his inner peace and harmony with others he tend to kill others. The harmony with others and himself can be lost due to many external factors , external influences. Also I think ,some internal factors such as abnormal fear also can cause the same.

Hostility is one of the main elements of mankind's nature; it's practically natural to want to do harm to another, for one reason or another. Would you rather have a world where someone can burn your house down and hurt you and you wouldn't feel like doing anything to that person other than passing it off in a kind gesture? Man must kill to survive; you kill or you die, that seems to be the law of the modern-day land. If men didn't kill, the human race would probably be nowhere by now, I'm sorry to say.

Okay, poof, you're on a planet where no people ever kill other people. How long til you destroy the rescources? On this planet, even though we kill each other all the time, there are already six billion of us. Six Billion in just over two hundred thousand years. We're quickly curtailing this planet's ability to support us. How long can your planet support humans?

It's the animal and survival nature in us that kills. As a specie evolves and the thought process become more elaborate, the more we are likely to kill. We are genetically programed to kill because primitive societies had to eliminate the competition to secure the well-being of their children. In other words it's always been the survival of the fittest. We were, and still are, programed to kill other people's children so that our children may survive. We now live in a society in which murder is unacceptable, but nevertheless, we kill! Sadly, LoverBoy, we will always kill!

Without light, there is not darkness.
Without right, there is not left.
Without Bert, there is not Earny. ;-p
And without death, there is not life.
Unfortunately, man's innate nature to kill is what drives us to live. Without knowing that we'll die or could be killed at any moment is what makes life so precious.
Besides.. total pacifism would be boring.
