It is still unclear if A. africanus is an ancestor of boisei (sometimes classified as Paranthropus), or a contempory, and even if africanus is in the ancestors of ****, and where afaransis belongs.


Otherwise, judging by teeth, boisei's diet was most likely heavy vegetation. Perhaps the habitat changed enough they could not adapt with their specialized diet. Africanus appears to have eaten a softer diet, including meat. A non-specialized diet is almost always favored over a specialized diet in adapting to climate and habitat changes.

Nothing but the different environments they lived in, which could mean every thing. You did notice that they are the same genus?
