show drive, fire in the belly, a willingness to be coached, confidence in your shot, hustle when you make a mistake, not an excuse about what went wrong; stay afterwards to work harder; always look for little ways to improve; eat drink and sleep the sport; you are young, this is the time to immerse yourself in it. Drive and determination are more important than natural talent. I've played and coached ... coachable players who work hard in and out of practice are rare.

The best way is to impress him beforehand. If there are informal weightlifting sessions, or open gym sessions where the coaches are allowed to be present, make sure you get to as many of them as you can. Get yourself in the best shape you can BEFORE tryouts start - very few of the others will be doing this and not only will it make you better prepared for the tryouts, it just might get the coach's attention ahead of time, which could translate into more interest in you and a leg up on the competition. Good Luck!

Well, first practice a lot before the tryouts- free-throws, rebounds, lay-ups, all that good stuff. Then, during the tryout, don't be afraid to shoot, but don't hog the ball. Coaches usually want team players. Just play your heart out!

To impress a coach, be on time/early to tryouts, make sure you're helping setting and cleaning up for tryouts and for different drills (this includes shagging balls), listen to the coachs ideas on how to improve yourself, make eyecontact with the coach, be loud during scrimmages, and most importantly, TRY YOUR BEST! Good luck!

The best thing to do during your tryouts is show him or her the basic fundamentals no AND 1 moves or fancy stuff. the coach will show you stuff like that during the regular season. he wants to see what he can work with during the season

Start jogging and practicing free shots and 3-point shots on your own. Concentrate on those shots... (remember to flex the knees just as you come up and pump-pop that shot... try to remember the FEEL of those shots that go in... ). Jogging will help your endurance for all the running you'll be doing during games. Don't wait for practice to start to get into shape, show up to practice IN SHAPE!
Impress your coach with your willingness to go the extra mile on your own! (Hey, practice vertical jumps... work on those muscles, do toe raises at home as you shower every night). Good luck and best wishes.

Do a slam dunk from the free throw line like Michael Jordan did in the famous slam dunk contest that he won. Good Luck :-)
