Sorry - it has been left to me to decide, which is great. I am the only BM and the color is open for both. I have not bought anything formal in sometime and just after some feedback - thanks

Hmmm Crazy brides - I think I was one of those... It is excellent being able to select my own! Buying off the rack or having it made. Not sure of this one!

check out these designers online:
bari jay, jim hjelm, alfred angelo and david's bridal. if the wedding is in fall, wear something brownish or organge-ish. if it's the winter, deep red is a favorite or maybe ice blue. if it's in the spring or summer, pastel colors are perfect. or if you want, ivory-colored dresses can go any time and it's a classic.

Debs is a good place to start. They have many inexpensive formal dresses. I however would stay away from the black. Black is for the tuxes not for the bridesmaid. I would have been very disappointed in my bridesmaids if they were to come in black. I let them choose their dresses and they were gorgeous.. I told them they needed to be teal. I was just married this summer. Ask the bride what her favorite color is and go on that..

It is great that they are letting you choose your own! (I am planning on doing the same thing unless I can find a GREAT deal for them.) Talk to both brides. See if they have lengths--both skirt and sleeve--that they would prefer. Also, see if either of them is worried about being conservative at all. I'm sure you know both brides very well--obviously!--but brides get CRAZY about stuff like this! You don't want to make them mad! (I would even double check to be absolutely sure they're okay with black!)

Again - the "little black dress." You could get different shrugs, wraps or scarves to differentiate them and color coordinate with the wedding colors.

Well your idea is good but the Brides get to pick your dress so you will probably end up with two dresses.

The bride should pick out the dresses she wants her bridemaids to wear. At least that's how it usually works.
