In American society, kids now-a-days, on average, know more than they did 30 years ago, however, that does not mean they are more intelligent.
In other parts of the world, education has played a major role, however, in some places kids learn less than they would 30 years ago because of education systems conforming to the world.

uh, if that were the case, they wouldnt be so eager to post questions because they can't do their homework. This way if they use the computer to help them they have more time to play video games or hang out at the mall! They may be smarter as to how to use the computer and con their parents out of just about anything!

In my opinion, not necessarily smarter but more able-now whether or not kids are using the opportunities afforded them is questionable. All you have to do is read any given blog out there and it becomes painfully obvious how computers are dumbing down social skills, spelling and grammar.

No.
Human nature, and human potential, remain the same. Some things are better, some are worse. Those who want to learn have a new and better way to do that, but the same stuff gives people a great way to waste time too.

Apparently not. A study just released this week in Britian says children now have less critical thinking skills and less apt to control their urges such as violence - they don't read as much, they play computer games and they rarely play outside and enjoy sports as most kids did in the years 1950 - 1979...I can't recall who came up with this study but it sounded reasonable to me.

Are you even a guy? why have not YOU spoken up. You enable this go on for years. the reason your spouse seems down on the 35year outdated is via the fact she isn't the guy she wished her too be. She sees her daughter as susceptible and unusual for not having her very own relatives. YOU style this out. YOU talk on your spouse. you're taking the outdated laptop and supply it on your daughter. Your daughter gets uninterested and could walk far flung from the two one in all you. Grown some balls guy.

>No, they just have a faster way to learn. The downside is that they don't use the tools to better their intellect and the result is the badly spelled and very badly worded questions you see all over this site.
That on top of the fact that half of them are lazy spoiled shits and the other half are neglected and/or abused. Sad really.<

Computers and the Internet are tools and not a measure of anyone's intelligence or their being smart.
