I got hired by an accounting firm. I was supposed to start work in July. I asked for an extension so that I could study for the CPA exam. The firm gave me the time off I requested. Now, I start in October, and I realize that I still NEED more time to study...I am afraid to ask for another extension of time off because they might get tired and fire me, even before I start. They were already very generous with giving me the extension of time off. Studying for the CPA exam will be harder with my work obligation on top of that...It is very time consuming...I want to start work with a clear mind thinking I passed all 4 parts of the CPA exam before I start....any suggestions for me?

Go to work. Study on your own time.

I would assume they gave you the extension because there is such a shortage of accountants right now.
Are you trying to take all four parts at once? Most people take one part every 3 - 4 months. Study Reg for 3 months then take that test. Then study Aud for 3 months then take that test. I can't imagine taking all four parts at one time.
October - December can be a pretty busy time for big firms, so I might worry about what they would say. I wouldn't want to blow an opportunity if I were you.

OK, they gave you three months off to study- and now you want more? Suck it up and start your job- it won't be as hard as you think. I work 70+ hours a week between two jobs and still find time to take online degree courses for college. Sure, my social life is taking a hit right now, but it'll be worth it in the long run. Good luck! It's all about the grown-up world!

Take the exam on the appointed date, then see what the results are...you may just pass every part! Good luck!

Start your position, bite the bullet and study on the side, that's your best bet. Yes your correct, if you ask for another extension, they probably won't look to kindly on it. Play it safe and conservative.

you should take the job in the first sight, if they have open position for 3 month for granted, your job won't be that hard /important
