Does Whole Foods grocery chain really pay their cashiers $17/hour?

Maybe in Silicon Valley or in CA - but not anywhere else that I am aware of.

Cashiers make $6.60 per hour at some grocery chains in MD and we have Whole Foods. Perhaps a cashier was with the company for a long time and earned that $17/hour wage - but beginning cashiers do not earn that much.
