1. Read the same passage outloud into a tape recorder over and over until you are satisfied with your enunciation

2. Take some time and talk to those who are on the other side of an issue (if you currently work somewhere, ask your HR director or even your boss what they find challenging, either in general or about a specific situation; if you're in school, ask your teacher or your parent)

3. Give yourself several things to do with a deadline, several days in a row. Each day, figure out what you could have done to get those things done in a more efficient manner. In a week, you'll have taught yourself the basics.

4. This will come with #3

5. Put yourself in the other person's place - imagine how you would like someone to tell you what you are about to tell them, and how you would feel once they said what you are thinking of saying.

6. Watch the news, as painful as that can be, as a reminder of how many crazy people are out there. You need to pay attention to everything/everyone that is important to you, and make sure it is protected. In the workplace, that means not leaving sensitive documents in areas where others could read them, making sure you log off your computer or lock your screen saver when you leave your desk, etc.

7. Watch some tv game shows and try to beat the players' answers/play board games that require you to think on your feet

8. Record a tv program. As you watch it, take notes on the things people are saying. Once you have finished, play the program back to see how much you caught/missed. Keep doing this with different programs until you find yourself able to note at least 80% of what's going on.

9. Think of something that needs to be done around your house. Next, think of the materials needed to complete your project. Then, write down the steps you need to take and the time-frame you wish to complete the project in. Enlist whatever help you can, and assign tasks to various individuals. Once you have finished the project, write down the lessons you learned.

Hope this helps - it's wise of you to want to develop these skills, they will help you greatly later in life! :)

Reading more will take care of numbers 1,2,7,8 and will help a little with the rest. Pick up a thick book and get into it. You will be surprised the workout your brain gets and how much clearer you will think.
