Harry Potter is make believe and they don't even talk about religion in the books or the movies except to say they celebrate Christian holidays. WTF?

People confuse Wicca with Harry Potter because they think that make believe Witchcraft is the same as Spirtual Witchcraft. They are afraid because of the resurgance of Pagan believes and reconstructions that their children will be seduced by the occult. Studies show that children are most influenced about religious choices by their parents. So why don't they stop wasting time burning books and try to bond with their kids?? Hateful people have problems bonding with others.

JK Rowling is not a Witch and I think she thinks the Christains who are afriad of her books are absolutely ridiculous. The books are about overcoming adversity and teamwork and things like that.

I feel sorry for people so ignorant.

Confuse is probably the wrong word. Associate is probably more accurate. The less people know about things that they consider "exotic", as many people see witchcraft, the more they tend to lump things connected with the subject together. Harry Potter is about witchcraft, so they naturally look at Wicca and Potter as being somehow connected. Ignorance does strange things. Also, very few people realize that religion and Wicca are even connected.

People like to be noticed. In some people the desire for attention is so great that they invent stories of being carried off by Big Foot or Flying Saucers just so that they can be the centre of attention. People don't mistakenly confuse Wicca with Harry Potter. It's just a way of pushing 'hot buttons'! Wicca is mis-understood, but it sounds like witches are involved, and everybody knows witches are evil (it, just, well, you know, everybody says so, so it must be true!) and since Harry Potter deals with witches, who are evil (as per my previous convincing argument based on sound solid facts that everybody knows) if logically follows that the books are evil, and I don't actually need to read something to know it's promoting the worship of Satan! Now I've just pushed about 6 hot buttons, and people will be lining up either condemning me, contradicting me, or saying "Here, Here, we agree with her!". But the important thing is, they are paying attention to me.
And the part about not having to have read something? Sad as it sounds that was actually a part of an article I read condemning Harry Potter as a minion of Satan.

People tend to see what is written in Harry Potter as what is Wicca for two reasons, they either don't know what Wicca really is or they don't want to separate the two so they can criticize both at the same time. Kill two birds with one stone as it were.

Because Wicca is witchcraft in a lot of people's eyes and Harry Potter is all about spells and witchcraft. I do agree though, it is silly.

I don't get it. I'm Christian and I love Harry Potter. You're right they don't even mention religion in it. I think its just some people are afraid of what they don't understand or just because it's not what they beleive it makes it 'evil'. No one is forcing them to practice the art of the wand and I'm definetly not stealing cars and flying to school woth my best mate.

The population at large is basically ignorant of Wicca. As a result, they just see witchcraft in both things.
