That depends if you have genetic breast cancer in your family.
Only about 2-4% of all breast cancer is genetic.
If your mom died from it, you probably qualify to be tested for the BRC gene, which raises the chances of breast cancer transmission and ovarian cancer transmission.

Things that are genetic, you get as kid. Otherwise it is GP-- genetic predisposition. This means a healthy lifestyle leads to long healthy life. Unhealthy lifestyle means you will get early in life what you have GP for. For example read how these people changed things completely. With a very healthy lifestyle you will get breast cancer at 124, if you live that long.

It can skip generations, but I wouldn't take it for granted. You'll always be a higher risk for it so take good care of yourself and get regular exams.
