I purposely give them crappy directions..............should've bought a map or used mapquest before they left.

Not really funny but it's a dead giveaway that they are from out of town and obviously know nothing about the region. I laugh and say you mean..... and then tell them.
I had 70 year old aunt from Baltimore that was on vacation in Florida and this lady with driving gloves and a really nice expensive car pulled up and ask her for directions at a stoplight and she told her what she was looking for was on Baltimore street. She said well he!! it is back home I don't know about down here and drove off.
Just thought I would share that with you.

What I find ammusing is that people like you who live in the town misspronounce them too, or give the wrong directions rather then say you have no idea, because hey you wouldn't want to look dumb in front of a stranger and who cares if he's cursing your crappy directions four miles down the road cause you'll never see him again right?

Not really, some times streets can have two or more pronunciations. I do think it's dumb (can I say dumb?) to travel to another city without a map.

No. Only a mental midget would find that amusing.

Yeah, but it's even better when locals get stumped giving you directions, as in, "You can't get there from here!"
