when they do the miss world/miss universe contest i've seen a lot of black girls represent Latin American countries like Guatemala, Guyana, Panama, Brazil, Dominican republic, belize, barbados? this guy told me black people did not live in latin america they were just dark-skinned spaniards. but that does not make sense. I knew this girl who looked like janet jackson but she was not black she was from panama. she told me she was merely a very dark-skinned spaniard.

There are lots of black people in latin america, especially in Brazil, Colombia, the caribbean, etc. But there are countries like Argentina, where I live, with very few of them. I don't think there is a definitive explanation for that, but one important reason may be that the slaves' descendancy was freed early in the history of the nation (1813) so slave owners sold their slaves, especially women, to nations that still had slavery such as Brazil. The ones who stayed probably either mixed with the rest of the population, as this was quite an "open" society and still is, or, being poor, enlisted as soldiers and died in the civil wars. Moreover, the fact that Argentina had little population as a colony, being populated more importantly from Italy and Spain only much after slavery was abolished (1880-), must be another reason.

The conclusion is that there are few blacks and their looks are well regarded, seen as an "exotic beauty". :)

Back to your question: even if they are not black, there are lots of dark-skinned people, who (I think) descend from native americans, dark-skinned spaniards, and probably those blacks who remained in the country, as I was saying before. This biotype is very common in latin america. So there are many black people in many regions, although not all, and there are also dark-skinned people whose ancestors are not from africa.

well if u go back to history..spaniards were the first conquestodors (or how ever u spell dat) they were also the first ones to bring African slaves into the new world (all of america) so its likely dat they are dark-skinned spaniards cuz they have the african decent from back dan as well as the spanish origin
