Why do I get so pissed off when I read things about people smoking weed and doing other drugs but I cant kick the smoking habbit? I feel like it is such a big difference between weed and cigarettes, but is there really? Am I doing the same thing to my child that they are doing? I cant bare the thought of anything happening to my child but every time I try to quit smoking I get stressed out and cant seem to kick it. I have smoked a pack a day for 8 years and am starting to cut down. How much different is weed and other drugs verses cigarettes?

I really don't think smoking weed is really bad, I believe cigareetes are probably worse because you are smoking more cigarettes than what you would be smoking weed. I would say if you have to do one or the other weed would be better.

Really a pack of cigarettes a day isn't that much, maybe cut down to 1/2 a pack a day.

Doing drugs is really bad (No I don't consider weed a drug) for you and your baby, leave drugs alone, nothing good comes out of drugs. Drugs do cause alot of problems for little ones.

It's hard to believe that you don't know the difference between weed and regular cigarettes. Have you ever smoked weed? Did it feel the same way to you that a regular cigarette did? Use your head. You already know the answer don't you? If it bothers you so much that you smoke while you are carrying your child then just stop. You are only pregnant for nine months !!

Actually, second hand cigarette smoke is a LOT more dangerous to your children than second hand weed smoke.

Althought doing drugs is ILLEGAL and a horrible example to set for your children, other drugs done in their presence won't physically harm them UNLESS by doing those drugs, you do stupid things to put your kids in danger, like drive a car, etc. However - all of the above can do emotional damage to your kids - and you are setting a bad example for them.

Drugs can land you into jail, make you do really dumb things, and make you act like an idion. Smoking can give you lung cancer - in which case your children get to watch you die a long, painful death at a young age.

If this isn't enough for you to get MORe help quitting, I dont know what would be. See a doctor and get some nicorette, or try hypnosis. You CAN quit smoking and you don't have to do it alone.

There is no difference. Smoking is smoking. Yes it is a different substance but it still is harmful to your lungs. On kids too, they still may get ear infections. Think of all the studies they do on second hand smoke. I see that you really want to quit. My husband also wants to quint. One thing that seems to be consistent is that you can only quit when YOU are ready. About 3 years ago I was very heavy, about 75 pounds overweight. It was the strangest thing I woke up one morning and I was just tired of being fat. I had tried tons of times to eat healthier, but this one morning it just clicked. Good luck with your success.

Weed and cigarettes, as you know, are both very bad for a child (living in your womb or your house). My father smoked for 40 years. He even continued to smoke after my mom got a liver transplant and was supposed to be kept away from cigarette smoke (he never smoked directly around her). From the time I was 5, I can remember asking him to stop smoking- he always told me no. Well, I developed asthma. It's something that, at 23, still gives me problems occasionally. He finally quit smoking 6 years ago after being told he needed a heart transplant. The doctor told him he couldn't get a new heart unless he stopped smoking. The doctor looked at him and bluntly said "You can quit smoking, or you can die." Why would you want to be put in that situation? Even worse, how you like to know that your child developed heart problems or lung disease because of being exposed to smoke because of you? If the thought of harming your child doesn't make you give up cigarettes, then you really have a problem. You need to get help before you cause lasting medical problems for you or your child. If you're pregnant, cigarettes are even worse for your child. Your child's body and mind are developing now. It's extremely selfish to not give something up that could cause birth defects to your child. I watched my dad battle cigarettes. I've never smoked myself, so I don't know how it feels. I know how it feels to watch your father close to death. I also know how it feels to watch your grandmother die a slow, painful, angry death from emphysema. I'm not telling you these things to be mean, but I've watched two people very close to me suffer a lot from smoking. And I've also felt resentment towards my father for my having asthma- I've always wondered if I could have avoided asthma if I hadn't been exposed to his cigarette smoke from the time I was born. I don't know your spiritual beliefs, but I truly believe that prayer can help you quit smoking. (It's helped my family through a lot) I'll keep you in my prayers. Good luck and God bless!

Morally, they are about equal. But socially, well...I guess cigarettes are a lil' better. Cigarettes are a lil' safer to your health because of the filter. Anyway, stopping smoking is as hard as stopping crack smoking. I beat myself up for it too...but hang in there, as long as you ARE trying...even cutting down is better than nothing. The fact that you are guilty about it shows that you are a good caring person. I'm sure you'll make a good mom either way.
