KIND OF BLUE!!!!
1. Great music! Almost every song is a jazz standard (classic)
2. This is a jazz superband (Miles Davis / John Coltrane / Bill Evans / Cannonball Adderley)
3. This is considered by fans and jazz critics to be the best jazz album of all time.

After you digest this, I recommend John Coltrane and Charlie Parker.

Kind of Blue, Milestones, Miles Ahead, 'Round About Midnight, The Birth Of The Cool. These are all great albums for someone new to Miles Davis.

Stay away from his crazy stuff if you're just starting out. By that I mean, "Bitches Brew", "On the corner", 'Jack Johnson".

Anything by Miles Davis and the Quintet is a score. Any of his older stuff like Birdland and Birth of Cool is a good listen. I'm sure everyone is telling you to get 'Kind of Blue'. It's just on par with the stuff I noted above.

Be careful with Miles Davis. Alot of his stuff is not for beginning Jazz enthusiasts but if you stick to the above you'll be ok.
