A "rep" of being mean to him? Why? Does he deserve it? Was he mean to you or your friend?
I'd say... take the high road (and/or grow up, if necessary). Being nice to someone, or at least tolerating them and being neutral, is a good idea.
Mean people suck. There's enough mean in the world.

I understand where you are coming from, one thing you could try is... In a joking but sincere way let him know that you realize you may seem to be mean to him but, most of the time your just kidding around. Then end with "You know that right". This way you can gradually be nicer to him and rather than look like an idiot for being mean people will barley notice that you've changed. You will feel better, your friend will be happy and then the Rep will fade unnoticed. No one will remember that you were once so mean to him. No harm done everyone wins.
On the other hand if you are mean to him for a good reason, and you dont think that your friend should be with him, let her know how you feel about but, that whatever she decides to do you will back her.

It would be mean to your friend not to be nice to this guy. Your rep will be lost once you get out of school, friends however can be for life if you treat them the right way. Ask yourself this...what would you want your friend do if it was you who liked this guy?

Being a decent friend is better than a rep for being mean. Girls like you grow up to be without true friends.

Live by the "rep" and you'll go DOWN by the "rep". Start thinking for yourself, and being kind to people on your own volition, and stop treating others according to the dictates of clique peer pressure.

If your reputation is based solely on your meanness to this guy, you really need to reevaluate yourself. Lighten up on him. Be nice, if just for the sake of Miranda, who likes him. At least keep your critisims of him away from her and away from him. If you think your reputation will be ruined because you are nice to someone, you have issues. Play nice. People will like you more.

If your friend likes this guy, you need to be nicer to him for her sake.

Well you should really be yourself but would you like it if people were mean to you? Try just toning it down some. :-)
