well dear Diana your questions isn't clear enough
but i guess you mean ;
(-1/2)x - 5 1/6
5 1/6 = [(5*6) +1]/ 6 = 31/6
so we have ;
(-1/2)x - 31/6
-1/2x = 31/6
x = (31/6) / (-1/2) { far * far & near * near }
x = (2*31) / (-1*6)
x = 62 / -6
x = - 31/ 3 ; x ~ -10.3

Part Two;
(9x) * (8/63x) - 5/72
{ you can simplify 9 & 63 )
7x^2 - 5/72 = 0
x^2 = (5/72)/7 , x^2 = 5/504 = 0.00996024
x1 = + √0.00996024 = + 0.0996024
x2 = - √0.00996024 = - 0.0996024

Good Luck.

I'm assuming the x means multiplication. so with that said 5 1/6 is the same as 31/6 just multiple the two top numbers together and then the two bottom numbers so since you have two neg it makes the answer positive. you would get 31/12.

9 is the same as 9/1 so just multiply the top numbers together then the bottom numbers together. 9x8x-5/1x63x72 and your answer is has a negative because you only have one negative in this equation.

This is all Greek to me. Ask a teacher of Greek. I never had math questions like that. We never had math problems where we dealt with fractions in the negatives like -½ but l know we never had a fraction like 1/-2. Of what worthwhile benefit is such a fraction and of what benefit is such a math problem? Will it solve world hunger or the other major problems of the world? Maybe it will solve the problem of the universe and the string theory.

1.1/(-2)*(-31/6)=-31/-12=31/12=2 7/12

2.9*(8/3)(-5/72)=-9*8*(-5)/(3*72)=-5/3
