I think the drawing is alluding to the fact that at the mere hint of the term violence, the muslims (according to the cartoon) assume that they are being accused of being violent (reacts ever so quickly) and are more than ready to retaliate.

It shows that no matter what you say, arabs will fly off the hook in anger and claim the greatest insult was given. They can dish it out but they sure can't take it.
Edited in answer to the retards that think the Pope was wrong.
First of all, they ARE violent. The Pope just told the truth and the arab world can't handle it! You don't see Christians bombing civilians nor taking prisoners then lopping off their heads! The Pope was only trying to placate those raving lunatics so that they wont escalate the violence that they already are perpetrating. BTW, I won't be checking back to this question, so all you bleeding hearts that want to damn me or try to prove me wrong (impossible based on historic fact) I wont see it. Nor do I care. Go live there and see how much you like it then.

Islam is a peaceful religion. Muslims will kill whoever says anything different. When all the dissidents are dead then there will be peace.
The pope quoted Manuel II Paliaologos, a Byzantine Emperor who had been conquerored by Muslims and made to pay jizyah (submission tribute). Manuel II said Islam is evil and violent.
Muslims rioted and killed a nun.

It is about the speech the Pope gave quoting Paleologus II calling Muslim people violent. And the second scene is the Muslim people disputing the fact that the are not violent with violence.

Yes. It is pointing out the hypocricy of the Muslim position. When The Pope identified an historical reference to Islamic violence tendencies, they cry foul! and then proceed to react with violence. The Pope's point was made more by their current behavior then his original statement.

The way the drawing depicts Muslims can be considered racist. I think it is implying that the recent fire bombings of churches by certain Muslims proves the Popes comments.

It's a tongue in cheek reference to a slur the pope made against the Muslims. He eventually apologized for saying they were evil or violent or something.
