With your experience, the best paying jobs are going to be in public administration (budgeting, administration ect...) What I would do is look for low to mid level administraton positons, then get your employer to pay for you to get your Masters of Public Administration (go with a budgeting or general emhpasis). Then you can parlay your existing experience and education into an upper-level administration job.

Hmmm... Politics.. you must have met SOMEONE in the legislature that can help you out. If you didn't, maybe you should go into something other than politics.
