The Anglo-Saxon period and the subsequent Norman conquest and its Plantagenet kings are of primary importace to the English language and to human freedom and its development.

It's a great story that bears close attention.

If you're "tired of talkin' about the Anglo-Saxons!" I suspect you've got a raging bore in there as a teacher!

Because the Anglo-Saxon period that predated the norman invasion gave rise to the basis for English syntax, and also the basis for many of the words in English.
