I dont' think they are prone to mythical thinking more than anyone else. We all believe exactly what we WANT to believe. In their case, they believe in the Golden Age of the 1950's that never really existed, they believe in a Hateful God, and they believe that the poor really don't deserve anything better than they have.
And by the way, Thomas Jefferson founded the Democratic-Republican Party, which later changed its name to simply the Democratic Party. And yes, his head is on Mount Rushmore.
Michael S: 90-95% of scientists believe in some sort of Higher Power, eh? I'd like to see your sources for that highly doubtful factoid. Furthermore, Creationism has been scientifically disproven. The Earth is 6,000 years old according to Creationism. We know that is incorrect. Science cannot disprove that some mystical intelligence may have been behind the creation of the universe, but that's not the same thing as saying it cannot disprove Creationism. Even if many scientists personally believe in a Higher Power, that by no means indicates they believe in the Christian God. Nor does it mean that science lead them to this conclusion.

This is more to the idiot that says trickle down economics works. How does it work when the owners of the buisness's dont invest the money into them, instead put it in the pockets? To truly stimulate the economy give the poor man the tax breaks so they have more money. They will take the extra money and buy things to improve their way of life. Which puts more money into the system giving money to the companys who will put the new profits into their pockets but with more people with lower incomes having money they will hire more workers so that there will be even more money coming in. Would repubs do this. NO because then the gap between the poor, middle, and upper classes would close. Thats somthing they do not want. If you state the fact that the unemployment rate is down it does not take into account the people who have not gone to the employment office to file for unemployment or help in finding a job. It also does not take into account the amount of people who are working for cash money. So the number that they have is a false number and cannot be trusted.
Now as for them beleiving in myth. There are alot of stuff in the bible that can be proven but there is also no mention of dinosaurs or a prototype human (cromagnum man) that scientists have found. So I believe in both. They believe because they have sined and hidden it so much that they are going to need alot of forgivness when they get to heaven.

i'm a conservative, no longer Republican, who will do my area to insure that Obama would not get a 2nd term. Are Republicans fiscally conservative? extremely no longer. they are as fiscally irresponsible as maximum Dems, yet below their watch the deficit has greater suitable on a similar time as their guy, GW, sat interior the Oval workplace. The small easy on the tip of the tunnel is the possibility that the Republicans could recapture the Senate. in the event that they do, deficit spending could come to halt. you are able to thank the Tea party for that because of the fact they are protecting the Republicans responsible. in the event that they do no longer help a relief interior the deficit, the Tea party will in simple terms as quickly throw them out of DC as they are going to the liberal Dems.

There has never been scientific proof disproving creationism. Most well known (90-95%) scientists believe in a higher power. Albert Einstein died trying to come up with a scientific mathematical equation proving that God exists! Now I know you are nowhere near as smart as someone as smart as good ol' Albert, the question is, does that make you feel dumber?

Have you ever heard the expression that there is a kernal of truth in every myth?
Trickle Down economics sure worked well during the Reagan administration. Our economy was strong enough to crush the empire aspirations of the Soviets. Enough said.
Creationism. Let me ask you, do you believe in Darwin's theory of evolution?
Until recently, I thought only cousin-marrying religious nutcases from the deep South doubted the scientific soundness of evolution. Then I read some articles casting doubt on how well Darwin's theory holds up under scrutiny.
Most recently, I read Ann Coulter's book, "Godless". She devotes a couple chapters to evolution, and particularly interesting are pages 204-205. Here is a sample:
"Nevertheless, Behe disproved evolution....though there are only a few parts to a mousetrap, all of them have to be working together at one time for the contraption to serve any function whatsoever. If one of the parts is missing, Behe says, you don't get a mousetrap that catches only half as many mice: you don't get a trap at all. Behe then demonstrated that it is a mathematical impossibility for all 30 parts of the flagellum (or 200 parts of the cilum) to have been brought together by the 'numerous, successive, slight modifications of natural selection. Life at the molecular level, he concluded, 'is a loud, clear, piercing cry of design.'"
Go read Ann Coulter's book. It's quite controversial and thought provoking. You don't have to agree with her on everything; no one does. A lot of what she says is merely to provoke argument, but her analysis of the flaws in the theory of evolution is quite remarkable.

Trickle down economics JFK did it Regan did it, now Bush has done it. Every time its tried it works... so its been observed, and it makes logical sense too...
Science hasn't disproven creationism, science cannot disprove creationism, that's not how science works... remember the scientific method from grade school?
Science could prove evolution true (it hasn't, it has never been observed or replicated) but it cannot prove it false.

I know Conservative Democrats who believe exactly like the Conservative Republicans.
Also, venture the idea that there is a difference between evidence and proof.
