If you are seeking a luxury hotel, these fall into that category
The Wynn Resort
Bellagio
The Four Seasons (adjacent to Mandalay Bay)

I also highly recommend Caesars Palace and the Hotel at Mandalay (not to be confused with the original Mandalay Bay hotel)

If you are going for the casinos, you will want to stay on the strip. Below is a link to a map that shows where all the casinos are located. It usually doesn't matter which one you stay at as far as entertainment is concerned. A lot of shows are free so you can go up and down the strip to see them. Your best bet is to find the least expensive or the one with the best specials (sometimes includes meals, casino dollars, etc) and save your money for the slots :) My particular favorites are Treasure Island and MGM Grand because they have the activities/shows I enjoy the most. But as I said, they are all free no matter where you stay.

What are you searching for? on the strip? Downtown Fremont St? much less costly? superb strip hotels which would be extra costly: Caesars Palace, Paris, Venetian, Mandalay Bay superb off strip hotels: palms, Rio Fremont: Golden Nugget (has an extremely good new pool) much less costly: Imperial Palace (centrally located on the strip), Harrah's, Sahara you do no longer inevitably prefer a return and forth from the airport. There are a lot of cabs and any inn you reside at on strip would be no better than a $10 cab fare.

I think any one of the hotels in central strip area are generally ok depending on what amenities and theme you are looking for (i.e. Circus Circus is certainly more family oriented than say Caesers). Last visit was a stay at Luxor which is very nice and unique but a little away from most of the action on the strip.

Stayed at the MGM and was disappointed with the room. Also found that we were far from what was happening (MGM is at one end of the strip). Next time I'm staying some where in the middle like Caesars. Best advice - stay in the mid strip area your feet will love you!
