I am a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, but i was watching a 49ers game for no reason and i thought "wow Alex Smith is not bad" he is better this year than last year i think. what do you all think?

I'm a Niner fan so my opinion is a bit bias, but I think he's underated to the fact that most people have him as a bottom feeder like a Kerry Collins (Good enough to play but not very good). Where as, at this point in his career he's showing little sparks of developing into a very good QB

He has obvious physical skills and excelled at Utah as a college player. As a pro, he has been mired on an awful 49ers team. I would not be surprised to see him improve his performance if the 49ers can become better on defense and show better offensive line performance. Frank Gore has looked dependable running the ball and any QB will look better when he gets protection from his O-line

Not bad is not good enough in the NFL. Alex Smith will be average at best.

He is better so far this year, but we have only played 2 games..
time will tell. Hopefully he will have better help from the rest
of his offense. Go NINERS!

No, is he even rated at all? He was a high draft pick who got his arm wet in yr. 1 and now in yr. 2 looks OK.

yea he had an awful year last year b/c he had no talent around him, with v.davis and others, he is much better, if he had an elite offense around him, he could be an above average qb
