A time machine, not just to go back and explore history as it happened, but also to be able to hang out or spend quality time with loved ones that have passed away.

I have a bunch of inventions, and ideas. My main ideas are around free/alternate energy research, and music technology.
The one that I am itching to do is comprehensive software based piano teaching. It would be a software system, where you hook up a midi keyboard to the computer, and the computer can tell which notes you are playing. That is nothing new, but that's the central focus of the software. It would teach you how to sight read music notes, and teach you music theory, technique, ear training,composing and improvising in various styles. All that is nothing new, but I would do lots of research and come up with the most efficient way. The main idea would be to teach all the skills at one time almost simultaneously. I can't go into the details, but I would consult top musicians, and hire the best piano teachers, psychologists, and hearing experts. The main motive would be to get people into making music, and listening to music. Did you know that listening to jazz requires skill from the listener? Real music is dying out, and it needs to be preserved, and passed on from generation to generation. I'm not against technology, but technology has reduced music to a series of looped beats, and sounds that are not in the same key, or written for the same kind of song. Of course there is the potential to make millions if the software is that good, or if I integrate it into a popular keyboard. I'm 42 and I'm learning to read music using the software in the link below.

I wouldn't necessarily invent anything but just find out the cure for cancer or AIDS, because I feel it would help many people and it would save many lives.
