Im studying BSc geography and a great deal of the course covers Climatic Change of both the past and the future. from the dozens of books and journals ive read on the subject i still dont think that there is anyway of prediciting the climate for even a date as close as 50 years.
current models show escalating temperatures and increasing precipitation, and one would think that over such a geologically short period of time this would seem like a reasonable way for it to continue, but we have seen vast amounts of evidence from GISP and NGRIP ice cores that show sudden climate changes of several degrees from temperate to tundra over periods of only a 100 years or so.
the addition of human impacts on the environment only makes it harder to predict...some models show surface temperature to rise by around 2 degrees centigrade by 2050 and others believe that the presence of human generate emissions could make it nearer 3.5 or could completely reverse the effect.
i appologise i cant give you an exact figure...but i believe that is the point...there isnt one..and never will be. our earth is far too dynamic and not well enough understood for us to be able to predict future climates to any great accuracy

Victorians believed London would be four feet or so deep in horse manure because the number of horses was increasing. This proved not to be true - of course.
What the climate will be like in 50 years time has the same problem. 50 years ago there were very few passenger flights and not may cars. Predicting then what it would be like in 50 years time - would you have predicted what it is now?

There will only be a few tiny islands because of the rising sea level and since people keep reproducing there will be like 10 billion people in a very small space. That's what I think. :)

We can't predict the weather ten days from now, and you seriously believe all those scientists grubbing for grant money can tell us what the climate will be like in 50 years? I'll tell you this much, it won't be nearly as "bad" as they are trying to tell you it will be.

the same as it is now. dude. thats only 49 years away. you realize the earth is like a billion years old right? we cannot destroy this planet!! we are tiny insignificant ants scratching at the surface. we can ruin it for ourselves and probably will, but the planet will survive. long after we are gone it will renew itself. it always does.
