First of all you need to make sure you are keeping a regimented schedule (meaning no matter what time you go to bed you get up @ the same time everyday...even on weekends) Secondly you might want to take this up with your doctor. If you've been under a lot of stress that could be affecting how you sleep (and he/she may or may not prescribe you some sleep aides depending on how severe) also your doctor might ask you question to determine if you're suffering from depression which can cause such problems (and I'm not saying you are..it's just a possibility). Good luck!

What do you consider a decent time? Everyone needs to get at least 8 hours of sleep a day, and the older you get (like, over 30) the more you need to take a nap during the day. As a kid or a teenager (which I assume you are, since you have school) you need about 10 hours of sleep to keep your body growing at the normal rate and to keep you refreshed. Drugs are not recommended unless you've been to a sleep clinic and they told you that you have a problem.
I get sleepy too. It's because we teenagers think that since we're "adults" we can stay up late and get up early. Not so. On that note, (and it being 10:18) I'm going to bed. Hope this helps!

Go to your local Wal-mart and buy a bottle of St.John's Wort. This is a herbal remedy that calms most people and improves their general sense of well-being; it can also make you sleepy.
I use this myself, else I would not recommend it. Its a fairly safe alternative to a lot of the night-time sleep and pain relievers, which usually contain Diphenhydramine, the active ingredient in Benadryl.
If you try the St. John's, take only the recommended amount.
Good night, and pleasant dreams.

Have you discussed this with your doctor?
I work at a hospital and there is usually two main problems our sleep coordinator mentions at our sleep lab clinic.
1). Stress. Your subconscience mind continues in turmoil all night, and many times you have not a clue it's happening.
2). Sleep apneia. That can range from breathing problems to heart palpitations, etc.
If sleep has become a major problem, talk to your doctor. He can possibly arrange for a sleep trail. You sleep in a room with ekg monitors attached to you. Painless, a hassle, but worth it if you have a serious sleep problem.

like hot chockolate?
try having a glass of warm milk with a little honey.
thier are also some teas at grocery store that help relax you and taste ok.
no t.v. or lights on when you go to bed this will distract you from getting a good night sleep and turn off the computer at bedtime .

take a bath at night with a lavender scented soap. Then have a warm cup of tea. If you are still having problems, see a dr at a sleep clinic. There are lots of non-drug things you can try.

Sounds like most likely diet even though it could be a hundred things like HIV, mono, hepatitis or a brain tumor. So you can check with doc. See this site on how to improve diet. You could even try fasting. Could also be meds you are taking or caffeine in coffee.
