Nice scary laugh :) And I would say yes, it in fact does make a sound. Just because no one hears it doesn't mean it didn't happen! And the sound of one hand clapping? Never heard of that one, but uh, depending on how fast it's clapping, it'd either be whoosh whoosh or no sound at all!

It does make a sound the tree when it falls, the sound is independent of anyone hearing it or not. And the sound of one hand clapping is the same as two but only one moving.

The first question is Yes. I was camping once and a tree fell while we were in the woods and we weren't nobody, and we heard it.

Actually, the sound waves would be produced since there is atmosphere and gravity. When the tree hits the ground, waves are produced. Even if there are no ears to percieve the waves as sound, the waves are produced. If a blind person throws a rock in a pool of water, will waves be produced even if he cannot see them.?

The sound of one hand clapping is obviously nothing. There is no resistance to the hand to produce sound waves.

There would totally be a sound; noise occurs even if there is no person around to hear it. And the sound of one hand clapping is a slap. ^_^ Huzzah! I’m smartful!

My son can clap with one hand, so I know what it sounds like. For a reasonable fee I could record him doing that and send it to you.

It only makes a sound if there is a receiver to here it. Be a person or recorder, or animal.....

"I think, therefore I am" Renee Descartes. Unless sound has self-awareness, or something else was aware of the sound, there never was any sound.
