Dumb commercials. pontificating, liberal-eliteists celebrities. loudmouthed, narrowminded, neoconservative talk show hosts. bland, banal sitcoms. hokey, mellowdramatic, public service announcements. crappy, prefab, top 40 music. Distorted news stories with loads of bias and very little relevance. The smiling face of a decietful politician- Just tell me how much conformity people have to swallow before they lose the ability to think for themselves altogether?!

Can you imagine how different our world would be if people were really taught, encouraged and stimulated to think for themselves? How many "leaders" would find themselves empty of followers? How many fundamentalist churches (and mosques) would crumble? How many big businesses would make losses as customerrs deserted them? People may not really enjoy having their intelligence belittled, but until they wake up and take power for themselves, those IN power are not going to just give it away to them. How many De Klerks and Gorbachevs have there been in my lifetime? Two. How many jerks and timeservers have been in power? Zillions.

No matter what kind of terrible swill is placed into the trough, the pigs will still come to eat it up. Unfortunately, I believe that most US people are the same way. I try to watch, listen, read, etc. more educational and balanced media, but I, too, am guilty of consuming the media I call "brain-swill." The good news is that there are some educational info sources out there; one must just take a little time and seek them out.
