Scottrade may be best. I have used both and they OK. Scottrade may be a few bucks cheaper per trade, I think $7. I not sure of their minimum Start money, I thought it was $500. But that may have gone up. I trade FOREX now. Keep an eye on the Stocks I have. Check into DRIP stocks too. These are companies once you have just one share you can buy from their bank reasonable and reinvest your dividends too.
Below is Motley Fool's web links TWO on DRIPS have your popup blocker on.

I love Scottrade. It's great for the experienced investor. Start off with Schwab or Fidelity Brokerage. The price maybe a little higher, but they're more geared to give you the type of service a beginner would need.

With Scottrade you'll save on the transaction cost but really lose on the opportunities. Understand "asset allocation". Read a couple of good books on investing. Start off with some good mutual funds and "ETF's"

Good luck!

Scottrade works pretty good for me most of the time. Those $7 trades costs are nice. Sometimes the trades are pretty swift. I recommend it.

I've heard very good things about scottrade but they have a $1500 min. charles schwab is a ripoff, and sharebuilder is $4/trade w/ no min.
