This is something that makes me very irate... it is called corporate welfare and we need to do something about it.
Funny thing is that Republicans raise cane about ppl actually on welfare but have no problem when they have to pay for healthcare, food stamps, etc... so a corporation, such as Wal Mart, can be the most profitable company in the world by underpaying its workers.

I shop At WA-Mart because they have what I want at a price I can afford. I shopped at my local Shaw's Market the other day and bought the same things I always buy & paid $27 more then I normaly pay at Wal-Mart. I also use my reward card & coupons.Granted the slip said I saved$32 but I still had to pay$27.Wal-Mart has put up lights at our local high shool football field, built 2 soccer fields & gives free turkeys to non -profits every thanksgiving. Yes they dont pay that good but no one is forced to work there.Right now they have about 125people in the area seeking jobs there. We have a new Target across the street from Wal-Mart & they do not pay any better .As for corperate greed , who risked the money the owners or the workers. I own a small company and I take all the risk every day. If some one can get more money somewhere else ,then go with my blessings. I have been in the lumber sales for 21yrs and the 14 people I started with are still with me& i have added 61 40 hr workers. GWs tax policy allowed me to do this .

They dont pay their people enough. They ones that they do have that are loyal to the company the screw over by hardley giving raises if they do they are small. They wont offer any of the employees below manager posistion healthcare.
I know first hand I know a girl who has worked there for 2 years now while she is putting herself through school. Oh by the way they dont support that either because then they have to work around the schools schedules.

I am not a walmart fan, but I am a fan of personal responsibility because life is all about choices. Walmart cannot be held responsible for keeping people on welfare, the government maybe, but not walmart, because the government allows these pitiful minimum wages. In addition, every person can choose to work for walmart or to go and get a real good education and then work for a better paid position in the occupation of their choice. It is a personal choice to work for a particular company and it is a personal choice to work for minimum wages. The government can be held responsible for the minimum wage part, but the individual is responsible for the choice of where they work

People being lazy and irresponsible are what keeps them on welfare. Wal-Mart has nothing to do with it.
