Well, sometimes love is hard and letting go is harder. A lotta times you may love the other one more, or vice versa and if you are to let it go they will come back if they love you. If they dont it oughta show you right there that that it wasnt meant to be. I know itcan be hard because I have been in your situation but in the long run its worth it. Trust me it's easier to come back than it is to not let go and regret being in that situation.

The point is that you don't respect someone if you try to control them. Please don't build a relationship based on controlling behavior. Then you don't even get to the let go/hold back situation.
If you're already there, well of course let go; if the relationship is worthwhile it will continue and become much stronger. If it goes away, it will be better for you both so that you can wipe the slate clean and start over again.

If it is a person then you know when its time to let go and you also know that they won't be back. If you are not sure yet then its not time to let go. Get to know each other and don't try to rush things ahead of their time. The amount of time needed if different with each person. If its a thing then get rid of it when your sick ouf it, and with any luck your preschooler (or Spouse) won't bring it back inside when they find it in the trash or at goodwill.

You will know when you feel that you cannot take anymore hurt from that special someone. If it doesn't come back, it's probably because there is something better that is supposed to come to you, eventually, but it will not come until you are free of the present.

Let it go when in wants to go, or needs to go. If it doesn't come back it was never meant to be, and it wasn't your love in the first place.

loving someone means wanting for them to have what they want even if it is opposed to what u want (that's when the letting go part kicks in). if he/she doesn't come back, it probably means the love was one way.
to be truthful few people really love like that, usually u let them go because u're afraid to go out and get what u want. so u should really analyze ur feelings and if it is the later option don't let it go

There is more there that what you are asking. If the other person is not going why do you want to let it go? Is it something that person is doing to you? If it is you are the one that needs to go, and if the person changes he will search for you.

Let go when you feel that it is only one-sided.Things will never work-out. If it doesn't come back, then its not meant for you..

You know to let it go before things get to bad and you ruin what you have. If it does not come back it was not mean't to be.
