I would most certainly be for it. It is a disgusting habit and those who go out to eat should not be subjected to it.

My community does and we voted for the ban. That included my youngest daughter and her boyfriend, who are both long time smokers.

It is not fair to expect the majority of people (who are non-smokers) to put up with the pollution from the minority. And I HATE smelling smoke when I'm eating. Even when I was smoking myself, I never smoked at the dinner table, and wouldn't let anyone else do it either.

What I think should be happening, is that all those tobacco companies that got rich off the diseased lungs of their customers, should be made to pay at least half of the cost of getting those people cured of their addictions. Maybe if we could sign up to quit through some government program, with step by step help and medications supplied where necessary?

Our state has banned it in restuarants, although they fought it. Business is actually up after the ban. The food tastes better and we don't have to smell other people's nasty smoke.
I knew a cafe owner who was told by his doctor to quit smoking two packs a day or he would soon be dead, his lungs were black. He did not smoke, but his cafe was really smokey, great food but I didn't like the smell. He was one of the first in our state to go smoke free, and is obvious proof that second hand smoke can kill. He did die a couple of years later from lung cancer, unfortunately. Smoking should be illegal, it kills more people than the drugs they prohibit.

I'd vote to ban smoking in restaurants. Once you get used to walking into a place and actually being able to enjoy your food and leave without smelling like somebody's ashtray, you wonder how you ever put up with it before.

YES YES YES!!!! Ban smoking in all public buildings! I live in Louisiana. As of Jan 1 2007 there will be no more smoking in any building, except bars and casinos. The bars can NOT serve food or its consided a rest. and the ban applies. I can't wait. I hate the smell of smoke. If I can't walk up to someone and punch them in the face, why can someone assult me by second hand smoke?!?!?!

I lived in Utah for most of my life, and I can tell you I went out to eat A LOT more fater they banned smoking in all public places. I now live where it is not banned, and we don't eat out much anymore. I would think the chefs and restaurant owners would ban it on their own because the food would taste better without the smoke.... YUCK!

Second hand smoke can kill you and I plan on voting to ban it in Ohio. For all of those doubters plesae read this article: http://www.cancer.org/docroot/PED/content/PED_10_2X_Secondhand_Smoke-Clean_Indoor_Air.asp?sitearea=PED

http://www.smokefreeohio.org/oh/

Smoking should be banned in all indoor facilities and bars. Smoking has been permitted in these facilities for years because smoking was considered the norm and non-smokers were a minority.

However in 2006, non-smokers are the majority and we don't want to be exposed to 2nd hand smoke. The tobacco companies in Ohio are sponsoring what is called Smoke Less Ohio. Basically it is a constitutional amendment to eliminate all anti smoking laws on the books in Ohio. The tobacco companies want you to stay hooked on their drugs for their profits.

So vote smoke free and be cancer free.

I'd vote for it. But I have nothing against smoking in a restaurant which has a smoking section which is well ventilated.

They have already banned smoking, in my community. No smoking in restaurants, bars, public buildings, or any commercial business.

Well, we're about to vote on that very issue, and I'm supporting it. I'm tired of having to toss my clothes in the washer every time I go out to eat to get the smoke stink out. The last restaurant we went to (seated in the no-smoking section) some idiot had stubbed out his cigarette in the sugar packets.

I'd vote for it.
We have it here in my State and it is working out just great. Survey shows more people are going to restaurants now.
