It is an educational plan passed by President Bush. He hopes to make teachers and schools work harder to help ALL students pass and succeed so that "no child will be left behind."

Unfortunately it is not a good plan and he cuts funds to schools that are not as successful as he would like instead of giving them funds to improve. In addition, there are no funds available to help us run the program in the first place.

According to Bush, it means that all kids were to progress in school. In reality, he didn't fund the programs for No Child Left Behind, so it became meaningless.

George Bush is an idiot?

Seriously, the idea that every kid should progress one grade per year is a good one....but it doesn't take into account kids with special needs, and doesn't always lend a lot of support to the radical changes it causes.

NCLB is a lot like communism--looks wonderful on paper, but doesn't necessarily work very well in the everyday school setting.

It means local school districts were frequently graduating kids from high school that did not know how to read.
people got upset...the local teachers unions were not helping...so the federal government made this law that tests these schools to see that the kids are at least meeting federal standards.
If the school fails to meet the federal standards, then parents are allowed to place their kids into a better school that actually cares and teaches.

Its a smoke screen for taking money from poor neighborhoods and giving it to the rich neighborhoods.
Over time this will create a Small upper class and a populous lower class. This is George Bush's ultimate goal.

It is SUPPOSED to mean that students with a learning disability get extra help to advance with the rest of the class. What it REALLY means is that the brightest students discouraged from doing their best so the others' egos are not bruised.
