Remember, incase you didn't already know (this goes for other people as well), a similie uses "like" or "as," and a metaphor does not use "like" or "as."

Similie: "Her singing was AS cheerful AS a robbin's on a beautiful spring day."
Metaphor: "His smile is a warm sun that brightens up everything around him."
