This is just off the top of my head.
cars - the anti-SUV, hybrids.
haircuts - i see most girls in just long, straight hair. guys have the hot, moppy thing going on.
hemlines - knee length is best.
slang words - i hate slang. fo sho.
houses - the biggest fad is a 30/yr fixed mortgage where you end up spending literally twice a much on a crappy house built by men who can't speak english. seriously, do the calculations. people are living beyond their means more than ever before, just for status symbols. cars are the same way.
jewelry - still pretty.
clothes - gypsy chic.
shoes - i really hope flats are still in. vans can kiss my ***.

I would answer this question for you but by the time I post it, the fads will have changed. ha ha ha
I think unfortunatly, fashion is leaning twords an 80's look and for those of us who lived through the 80's IT'S TOO SOON TO BRING IT BACK, the wounds haven't healed.
I know that with cars the hot thing is to have a hybrid SUV, then you can be good for the enviroment, get a tax break, save money on gas, and still have your little status symbol.

Cars: With the oil prices on the rise, more people are driving smaller vehicles. The mini cooper & smart for two coupes are favorites
Haircuts: In Asia, men love the long, straight, jet black hair on women. On guys, it's the "Mohawk", the androgynous side swept bangs look & punk.
Hemlines: Miniskirts
Slang words: embellishing our sentences with "-lahs" and "damn shiok-lah" <~~ which is similar to saying that's hot, lol.
Houses: Size does matter
Jewellery: Due to theft, gold has dropped making very few putting them on in public for safety reasons
Clothes: 80s making a comeback
Shoes: Flip-flops, ballet flats, pumps
Others: Japanese related stuff e.g. anime, fashion (Harajuku-style), sushi

Clothes: Skinny jeans and leggings with longer tops, big belts at the waist, miniskirts with tights or leggings
Shoes: A bit chunkier -- wedges and retro platforms
Jewelry: Chains in necklaces, bracelets, and belts

The way I see it, is who cares what other people think of you. Be yourself that goes a lot longer than your haircut, clothes, slang words etc.
