There is a common conception that people have to work, that it is immoral not to work, and that working is contributing to society. Is this true? If it is, does it apply equally to poor people and to rich people? Why are we more upset about people who are on welfare than rich people who don't work? Because of the money it costs? If you look at resources instead of money, rich people who don't work use more than poor people who don't work. What do you think?

If there aren't enough jobs for everyone, should those without jobs starve?

Also, poor people who work are likely to use more resources/money than poor people who don't work, because they are exposed to unhealthy working conditions.

I think its irresponsible of people who can work not to, especially if that means that everyone else will have to support them.

However, society adores the rich and despises the poor not because of work. Most poor people work their butts off. There is an unfortunate tendancy to equate someone's moral worth with their net worth. In other words, our society judges people's character primarly on how much money they earn. Its sad.

Yes, that is right cons who support social darwinism,
How do you feel about the vast majority of non workers THE R I C H!!!!!!
Why do you keep insisting it is the poor who don't work? It is the working POOR that holds two or three jobs and can't even raise their own children because they pay an arm and a leg for dumpy asz child care......
But no, all they 'supposedly' care about is that the 1% of government spending might go to social programs for the Poor. GEt a f ing life already people. Don't you know by know how many lies you've been spoon fed and how brainwashed you all are?

But your frikin world is crumbling if 1 red cent of government money is spent on a starving child, OH, No, but it's ok that the poor is taxed the

First: The rich that do not work do not need a hand-out from me. They can support themselves.
Second: The rich are the one that use their money to create jobs for the poor people to work and, if they are wise, invest some of their money and become middle class and get a better paying job and invest their money and become rich where they do not need to work.
Third: The poor that do not work, either legitimately or not, depend on the people that work and pay taxes to support them.
Fourth: The poor that do not work that are in ill health or for another legitimate reason need the help they are provided and I for one, think that is an obligation of a civilized society.
Fifth:The poor that do not work because they are free-loaders and illegitimately living off our taxes are no good sloths. Are you about to be one of them?

First of all we need to consentrate on what is good for us. We need to only worry about us. Yes, all people should work. Even the rich. Most rich people do work, either at taking care of everything or everyone else. Poor people work and then there are some that don't. Until we know their predicament we can't judge . The saying is: Idel hands are the devils tools. If you can't work that is one thing, but if we can work, then we have to.
Yes, People should have to work and work hard. DO the best we can., Always.

Our system works on Supply and Demand! That means there will always be those unemployed and those who are unable, ie elderly!

The Rich could care less because thy are among the 20% that have individual resources! The poor do because thy are the ones who's backs supply and demand gets placed on!
I love it when companies can use their workforce to make Billions, but discard them, and feel they have no responsibility, even if it is their creation, walk away and let us pay!!

That is the biggest issue with our system. The other is dollar drought, where money is taken out of communities, like Walmart, and your local jobs disappear, as do local business owners! Corporations have gotten too big for their britches and need to be taken down a notch or two!

Suppose you have 100 trillion dollars, allocate it equally to all people and they live of that: one day the money is gone. Where would the government get the money from once it is gone? People need to work and make money in order for the government to charge taxes--and those taxes pay for programs for the poor. There will never be equality in any society--not even a communist one, because those in power in a communist regime live like the kings and the rest live as the government distributes, and that is not a whole lot per person....
