Just watch That 70's Show. That'll give you plenty of ideas, and laughs.

Good clothing ideas - go to a thrift store and get the cheapest, ugliest clothes you can find. Anything orange or with spots or flowers on it will be quite appropriate.

Popular music - you'll want plenty of disco (Donna Summer is essential), classic rock (think early Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Cheap Trick's first four albums), reggae (Bob Marley will do) and bubblegum (Abba is great here). Get hold of Osmonds and Carpenters compilations too. I would suggest punk, but almost nobody in the 70s actually listened to the stuff, and first generation punk is nearly all rubbish anyway.

Phrases from the Seventies - I was only 10 when the Seventies ended but the phrase I probably used most was 'I'm bored'.

Every one wore polyester shirts, bell bottoms. Men wore their shirts open down the front with lots of chains around their necks.
Bright colors and floral patterns.
