Yeah, I know a lot about cam failures in the SHO. The cam gear shears off of the camshaft, it has been a problem from the start on the Yamaha V8s. A reman short block from ford is 14,000 dollars! That does not include the cams. I have seen success from having the cam gear professionally welded back onto the camshaft. When they are running good, they are great vehicles, when there is a problem, most engine parts are shipped directly from Yamaha in Japan, and can take weeks to get, and the cost is outrageous.

Im not sure what the question was but yes the v8 sho's had catostrophic cam failures when the flange backs out of the cam.Also shoclub.com is another good site.
