I think it's good that people can rate professors.

I am a teacher and I like it sort of. It is an ego booster for me because my students like me and say nice things about me.

On the other hand, if a student gets angry sometimes they go and say things that are biased or just not really true and sometimes that is hurtful. I have a friend who I think is really a great teacher and when she checked out the site she was really hurt.

Then again, sometimes the things that the students say are painfully true. If EVERY students says the same thing they can't all be lying. Sometimes it is an accurate perception even when negative.

So I guess that really if you look at the average answers you will find truth in it. If there is just 1 positive or 1 negative they are probably not really true and can be thrown out.

I think you should take ratings on professors with a grain of salt. sometimes the rating is right on but sometimes people just get mad because a teacher expects them to do some work and so they rate the teacher poorly.

i think its helpful in picking out professors for next semester.....you get the opinions of other people that had that professor, so you can tell if you would do good in that class or not

Yes, I like it too. I wish it had existed when I was in college because it would have saved me a lot of time, money, and heartache.

I came up with that idea 15 years ago, but was too much of an idiot not to act on it.

Stupid!
