It's hard to wipe the dust from a candle because of the fact it's wax. It's probably received some heat and the dust has actually ''soaked'' into the wax. What you need to do is take the layer of wax off containing the dust without damaging the candle itself. One method is a panty hose. Yes, panty hose. I know it may sound weird but with a new panty hose, insert the candle inside and roll it around. The panty hose's texture will allow you to remove the thin layer of wax around the candle containing the dust without actually damaging it. :)

Before I attempt any other cleaning method, I run my candles under cold water and the dust washes right off. Hot water will melt the wax and the dust will be stuck forever!!

Dip it in warm water and wipe it off with a damp cloth. Don't get the water too warm or it will make the candle soft.

I have always been told to ball up pantyhose and rub the candle. This gets rid of minor scratches, too.

I always run mine under really cold water, then wipe with a paper towel gently. I heard once rubbing them with a dryer sheet works, but I haven't tried it personally.

try a DRY nylon scrubbie - helps if you put the candle in the freezer for an hour or so first

I just use cool water on a cloth or paper towel and just a very little soap. Very carefully. Then I carefully dry it.

I agree that you should use cold water, but also try putting it in the freezer first. Good luck!

I just blow on mine. If you wipe it, you may just smear carbon around on the wax, which isn't pretty. Have you tried vacuuming it?
