I've been toying with the idea due to the fact of gass prices and convience (I live in hawaii) and Im going to college. I have been riding dirt bikes for some time now and I have a drivers licence. What steps would I need to take (it is even possible) to make a 125 street legal. I mean seriously the mopeds they ride cant be any more than a 125 at the most, they have trouble going up hills~!

I think the minimum engine displacement for street legal vehicles is 50cc so your 125 would meet that criteria. The only thing it needs to have (as far as I've been told) are a headlight, turn signals, taillight and a brake light. Of course, you'll need to have your license plate displayed as well.

Your best bet is to call your local DMV and find out what qualifies for "street legal".

Some states have a process you'll need to follow in order to make a dirt bike street-legal. At a minimum you'll need a high/low beam headlight, a brake/tail light, a brakelight switch operated by the rear brake, a license plate light, a battery to run the tail light for 15-minutes with the engine off, a horn, a rearview mirror and DOT tires. Some states require functioning turn signals, two rearview mirrors and a brakelight switch on the front brake.

You'll need to add a lighting coil to a 125 2-stroke, but IMHO it is a poor platform for a street-legal dirt bike. Especially if you plan to do a lot of street riding.

Nope. it cost to much to convert a dirt bike and they don't have a legal vin number for the street.

Sure. Just add all the legal items. Like blinkers, etc
