hammer and punch...tap it lightly. Some go to the right some go to the left..just look at it and see which way it goes. DO NOT USE A SCREW DRIVER OR CHISLE. A punch with a flat head and tap lightly. If this don't work...have someone hold down on the assembly while you tap it.
Hope this helps

The ring is the easy part, its wiggling that stupid sender out that always gives me trouble. They actually sell a tool for that but a large flat screwdriver and hammer work good too. Dont forget a new seal upon reinstalling.

A HAMMER AND A BRASS PUNCH. DON'T FORGET LOTS OF PENETRATING FLUID AROUND THE RING. DON'T BEAT IT TO DEATH, BUT A SHARP TAP WILL DO. BE PATIENT, BUT PERSISTENT, REMEMBER THE DAMN THING WENT ON... IT WILL COME OFF! AFTER GET RING OFF..PAY CLOSE ATTENTIO TO HOW YOU HAVE TO WIGGLE THE THING OUT, DON'T FORCH IT.. USE SAME WAY TO INSTALL NEW SEND UNIT OR REPAIRED SEND UNIT. GOOD LUCK.. PS: 3 BEERS ARE REQUIRED AFTER ACCOMPLISHING THIS TASK!!
