For me it would have to be 'V for Vendetta'. Fantastically scripted and shot with high production values. Hugo Weaving managed to convey so much with just his voice as a tool.
'A History of Violence' was quite good too, if not a little self indulgent...

I really like V for Vendetta too, and also Memoirs of a Geisha. But the best movie I've seen this year was The Notebook on DVD. It's such a beautiful story. I'm not usually into romance but that is a gorgeous film, and it's also one that guys seem to really like aswell. I think it's because the guy in it is a down to earth, totally likeable person and in this movie the girl does the wrong-doing, not the guy. The cinematography is beautiful too, as with Memoirs of a Geisha which I found visually captivating.

I think that "X-Men 3" was a great movie. It involves very popular and classic characters that people enjoy watching.
The plot is based on the reoccurring theme of prejudice (which everyone experiences at some point in their life) gone to an extreme extent of war.
And watching the mutants uses their abilities was just truly amazing.

It would have to be "The last kiss". It was so real, and they were able to have 5 or 6 different stories in the movie and they all worked wonderfully. I found it amazing that I still felt compassion for the guy, after he cheated on her.

It's a toss up between Memoirs of a Geisha (beautiful!) The Devil Wears Prada and Cars.

I know it's totally immature, but I loved Wedding Crashers. Just... the chemistry between Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn was amazing. And the jokes were funny, too ^.^

pirates of the caribbean!! when johnny depp was held prisoner and had his face all painted up, that was kind of corny. but the following scenes made up for it really great. the ending was a complete surprise when barbossa returned. a great movie...can't wait until part 3.
