It's broken and can't be fixed. If they have kids they might be able to form some sort of bond to raise the kids together. Seriously, a three year affair? Let's face it the chick was doing two guys at the same time.

I'm a guy and Bill Clinton has no advantage over me in the womanizing department but I never had a long term affair.

A three year affair goes far beyond just sex. That get's into the true "love triangle" where someone always get's hurt.

If there are no kids involved it's better to just split the sheets.

No one can help anyone have a better relationship. And it's up to the husband to to allow the healing to begin, if it can. I doubt if they will stay married, because a three year affair is not casual and it's just not sex. Most women who want to leave their husbands will first get into a relationship with someone else, because they want to hop from one nest to the next with no danger of being alone. Then there is the slvt syndrome, where women need to get one over on her husband, to prove something. Most men might be willing to forgive a woman's indiscretion, but not one that lasted so long. They might forgive a flop in the hay with the new 19 year old mail room boy, or even a night with another woman (if the other woman was good looking and his wife shared the details). But three years? Not a chance.

the best advise is for them to get consoling, the second is for everyone to stay away and let them work it out by themselves
their is already anough embarassment with these matters
third parties will make it harder to fix things

That kind of breach of trust needs professional intervention.
How can he trust her again? Does he want to? She will have a long way to go to prove she's worth it....
