Most words that end in a are feminine.
Add an s and they become plural.
la chica
las chicas
la amiga
las amigas
la profesora
las profesoras
Most words that end in o are maculine. Add an s and they are plural.
Hope this helps.

SINGULAR - la hembra fue molestada por lo que la respuesta de hombres era ( the female was annoyed by what the mans answer was )
PLURAL - las hembras fueron molestadas por lo que las respuestas de hombres eran ( the females were annoyed by what the mans answers were )
SINGULAR - el gato es una hembra, el pájaro es una hembra pero el perro es un masculino ( the cat is a female , the bird is a female , but the dog is a male )
PLURAL - los gatos son femeninos y tan son los pajaros pero los perros son masculinos ( the cats are females and so are the birds but the dogs are males )
SINGULAR - una palabra de la acción puede terminar en un A o un O indicar si esta en la forma masculina o femenina ( an action word can end in an A or an O to indicate if it is in the male or female form )

Usually if it ends in "a" it is feminine, and "o" is masculine, BUT there are several common words that don't follow this- el agua, la mano, etc. Also there are many words that end in consonants like cuidad or pared. Usually if it ends in -cion, -dad it is feminine. There are some like la radio or la foto which are feminine or masculine because the word is an abreviation, ie. foto is really fotographia. The only way to be sure is to look it up in the dictionary. It gets easier and after awhile they just sound right or wrong to you.

feminine spanish words end in the letter .......a.........masculine words end in the letter......o........examples are chica which means girl (young) to make it plural add the letter........s............chicas.................................................................flaca................................feminine for skinny..................................bonita..........feminine for pretty...........linda........feminine for beautiful..........camisa.......feminine for blouse............to make these words masculine ....remove the a on the end of the word and replace with the letter o........to pluralrize add the letter s to either......................hope this helps you to identify your adjectives and noun................this rule does not always work with verbs.
