I think if you're driving and you can't read the word "stop" on a stop-sign without glasses, that's probably legally blind.

First things first stay away from the work at home scheme's rarely work. You need to take stock of yourself... what you can do and can't do.. then your like's and dislike's. What you are trying to do is find things you like and could do at home. Next question do you need to work for the money or to have something to do. If you on SS or the like then you will be limited to how much you can make in a given time. If you need a little extra mad money what skill do you have..kniting. cross stitch.. any needle work ? Ok this is just a small potion of whats out there you can do. My Daughter is legaly blind in one eye and almost in the other. plus MS.. polio. curvature of the spine. She should have died before the age of 5 and has some 30 plus operations on her legs. Did this stop her nope was a Sterling Scholar. graduated high school and college the same night. Earned a LVN degree. is a registered emt 2. lacks one course for her teaching degree. none of which she can use because she is in a motor chair. She makes wonderful hand stitched blankets, chrochets all manor of things to sell for a little extra mad money.. The reason I told all this is to help you see not all is lost and you are not worthless as some people might tell you.. With in the frame work of limitations there are many thing you can do if you put your mind too it.... Oh last thing she beat cancer 3 time's so far and depending on her health a 4 th time and we just found out she has a hole in the outer sack of her heart. that hasn't eaten into a chamber yet. By right she should be dead or at least lay down and die.... But that won't happen for she will fight the odds and beat them till the Lord say's its time to come home. Don't ever let anyone tell you you can't get madedo it in spite.

Legally Blind
The definition for most legal purposes in the United State is 20/200 vision with correction in the best eye, or field of vision less than 20 degrees.
From a practical point of view, the visually impaired community talks in terms of "a high partial", "a low partial", and "totally blind." Someone with 20/200 vision can see what the person with 20/20 vision can, only he has to be within roughly 20 feet of the object rather than 200 feet to see it. That person should also be able to use Large Print or magnification to read fairly comfortably. Eyestrain will become an issue, however, in many situations. A high partial may or may not use any sort of mobility aid such as a White Cane, guide dog, or sighted guide unless travel conditions are difficult. For example, at dust or after dark, a white cane may be helpful to find the edge of steps, ramps or the like.
Low Partial folks will have a tough time with most large print and are more likely to use a mobility aid. Depth perception and glare can become major problems in travel for them. Their choice for handling print material will be limited to either audio presentation or braille.
Totally Blind means a virtual lack of any sort of functional vision. Some people with minimal light perception may refer to themselves as totally blind although they can tell when the light is on in a room and startle the sighted partner by turning off the light. Mobility aids are common and the use of either audio or braille is essential.

Legally blind is vision worse than 20/200 that cannot be improved with corrective lenses. People with a visual field of less than 20 degrees diameter (10 degrees radius) are also considered to be legally blind.
The number you were given could be the diopter value of myopia, or nearsightedness. There is often a second value for astigmatism, followed by a number and x, which is the degree of angle of the astigmatism. These are usually given for both the right eye (OD) and left eye (OS).
Just having the one number makes it hard to tell the meaning of the visual measurement.
In any case, vision of any diopter that is correctible with lenses is not considered to be legally blind.
