Are children generally happier when they have fewer alternatives to choose from, or given no choice at all? From this question, I came up with the following hypothesis; if you have too many alternatives, then you tend to get stressed up and wonder if you made the right choice among the millions of alternatives that you have. Just like the psychologists say, that when you give children too many cereals to choose from, for example, they will get very stressed up and unhappy.

this is my hypothesis and WHAT WOULD BE ME ETHICAL CONSIDERATION?

the yonger the person- fewer choices, the older we get I think we like to have more choices because it gives us a feel of being independant, confidence and the wisdom and smarts to choose and do what feel s good for self. Look at all the choice of cell phone companies we have now, for the most part eveyone belives that they have made a right choice for what works for them- if we only had one company to use some may like it, some may feel constricted cause they are not getting everything they want or think they want. Choices, even at a young age are good. But no matter what there is always a higher power feeding out the choices to us- weither it be a parent or a company with lots of money for ads to sway us into making a "good" choice. giving people choices also sparks creativity to vear off and create something else that works for self that other may like- we can never reinvent the wheel but we can always make changes to it that we like and others may like it too.

It just comes down to our personal self in reserching what we like, and no matter what age it gives us a sense of responsibility to know how to use and deal with our choices in life (and realize the consequence or rewards of our actions-by our choices)

Children generaly take the easiest way out of most situations .as a father of 4 children I have found that if you give a child to many choices they feel like they are in control . some choices are good some not so.each child is different whats best for one is not for another .Watch your child when given choices and you can figure out what they can or can't handle.

This is just crap from my thinking and not substantiated.....

I think that to deny choice to children would ill equip them for life. At the same time, they need borders in life to be established and justified. The choices are not infinite, they should be limited and once the choice made, supported.

An analysis after the choice is made could help them to know that reflection on choice helps to make better ones the next time and shouldn't just 'criticize' them

this could be true from time to time.. but at a certain age.. they want to have an imput in everything.. so let them choose.. not choose something stupid.. like what should be your punishment.. something that you know they don't like and tell them if they do it they will be rewarded.. if not they accomplish nothing therefore get nothing... Sound good? yeah

your question is not very clear but it is better to give a choice always if that is what you are asking...
