I have recently recovered from the common cold. But there seems that there is always this excess mucus in my throat. I always try to clear it by swallowing, but it doesnt work. Does anyone know any cure or help?

Go to the Doctor, you may still have an infection.
Mucus is not a healthy thing

I know it sounds gross but try spitting it up into a trash basket.

The longer the mucus stays there, the longer it will take to recover from the cold.

You might have "Post Nasal Drip". It's something that never goes away, but can be treated. You need to get a perscription though so ask your doctor about it.

Instead of swallowing, get some medicine that will make it come out. An expectorant will do. If you keep swallowing it, it can settle in your lungs and you could get sicker, like getting pneumonia for example. You can get tussin expectorant or ask the pharmacist for help. Get better fast.

a shot of lemon juice before bed kills the phlegm and after the sour leaves a nice taste. also good for stuffed noses, and smokers. (i always hated that nasty taste when u wake up as a smoker. )

Spit

I'll try to be serious.....
Hot tea with a lot of lemon or honey (lemons better), or a very hot shower running over head, always helps.
